Context and objectives
Infrabel launched a strategic study to establish the condition of the network’s infrastructure and then, on the basis of that diagnosis and of budget projections, to draw conclusions on the network’s future performance.
Approach and results
The assignment comprised three main strands:
- Diagnosis of network condition
- Assessment of maintenance policies
- Scenario modelling of network performance trends
The team developed mesoscopic modelling of the rail infrastructure and implemented the simulation platform to assess maintenance requirements.
