A Second Look at the Findings Regarding the Denfert-Rochereau Derailment
RATP commissioned an expert assignment to examine the conclusions and recommendations of the investigation into the Denfert-Rochereau derailment. The study was also to identify any similar incidents that had occurred on other railway networks. “The assignment covers exclusively matters relating to railway engineering”, legal questions remaining outside its scope.
The approach unfolded in four phases: gathering RATP documentation, field visits in April 2021 (Boissy-Saint-Léger laboratory, the derailment site, Massy-Palaiseau depots), comparative analysis of similar incidents, and discussion meetings with RATP experts.
