Context and objectives

The equipment on SIN’s distribution network has considerable longevity, but replacing it generates substantial capital expenditure. It has become essential to organise investment in step with the energy strategy scenarios of the City of Nyon.

The assignment aims to:

  • Model the LV electricity network across several districts of Nyon
  • Analyse a full year of load measurements
  • Analyse current energy demand and assess future demand
  • Model electric vehicle charging points
  • Select the target network that will meet energy demand
  • Calculate the investment required to reach that target network
  • Establish sustainable asset management

Approach and results

The study is based on analysing energy requirements for the area served through to 2035, taking account of territorial characteristics (residential, industrial, commercial). Its conclusions will produce a database of load profiles simulating various scenarios towards carbon neutrality, in line with the federal Energy Strategy 2050.

Results will first be validated on a section of the network before being generalised.
