Context and Objectives

Neplan® Anywhere is an application designed to make digital models of electrical grids accessible to grid operators without requiring the installation of complex grid analysis software.

IMDM engineers prepare the models and scenarios, allowing the operations team to run standardised analyses directly via a web interface; this ensures consistent, traceable results for grid connection and planning decisions.

Approach and Results

The assignment involves the following steps:

  • Creation of a digital twin of the grid using the client’s GIS tool;
  • Development of two extreme load scenarios (winter and summer);
  • Deployment and configuration of the application.

Users can perform tasks such as:

  • Load flow calculations;
  • Short-circuit current calculations;
  • Voltage and overload checks;
  • Integration of photovoltaic generation;
  • Assessment of new load connections (heat pumps, charging stations, etc.);
  • Logging of connection requests in a centralised database.

Assessment results are displayed using a traffic-light system: green = approved, yellow = approved with modifications, red = not approved. In addition, critical indicators are displayed.

Key figures:

170 connection requests processed in one year
