Context and Objectives

In 2020, RATP – Infrastructures was established to strengthen the infrastructure management role within the EPIC RATP. This development was accompanied by a transformation in asset governance, with assets officially becoming the property of RATP – Infrastructures.

To structure and drive the improvement of the asset management system and associated processes, RATP sought to pursue ISO 55001 certification.

Head of the Performance and Asset Management Unit: “We engaged IMDM for its expertise in industrial asset management applied to railway assets, as well as its methodical approach.”

Approach and Results

The IMDM team acts as a methodological guide and facilitator for RATP-Infrastructures. Our assignment involves serving as the ISO 55000 and asset management lead, defining the continuous improvement roadmap and contributing to the production and updating of planning documents (Strategic Asset Management Plan, Asset Management Excellence Plan and Asset Family Management Plan). The approach has been developed over the years to enable internal stakeholders to become fully autonomous.

It is structured around thematic modules covering, in particular:

  • Clarifying roles and responsibilities within the Asset Management process;
  • Defining and producing the document hierarchy underpinning the process;
  • Verifying the embedding of risk governance;
  • Training stakeholders on asset management and the ISO 55000 standard;
  • Creating and compiling indicator dashboards to manage the process.

RATP – Infrastructures has successfully achieved successive certifications.

Key figures:

Obtained ISO 55001 certification in 2022 and maintained it through 2023, 2024 and 2025, covering the entire life cycle of the assets used to operate the 1,285 km of railway track and the equipment within the Paris network’s 386 stations.
