Context and objectives

Voénergies must secure the electricity supply for a range of customers. Its distribution equipment has a service life of more than forty years and carries significant investment costs.

The assignment aims to:

  • Prioritise assets according to their condition and importance
  • Model the medium- and low-voltage electricity network from the Geographic Information System (GIS)
  • Assess energy demand to 2035
  • Select the target network that will meet energy demand
  • Calculate the investment required to reach that target network
  • Establish sustainable asset management

Approach and results

The approach analyses energy demand through to 2035, taking territorial typology into account. The results produce a database of load profiles for carbon-neutrality scenarios aligned with the Swiss Energy Strategy 2050.

The conclusions are calibrated on a section of the network before being applied across the whole.
