Assessment of public lighting networks

Several municipalities wished to entrust SEIC with managing the renewal and maintenance of their public lighting infrastructure.

The assignment aimed to:

• Take inventory of the network assets
• Value the networks
• Calculate future investment under several scenarios
• Calculate maintenance costs for each scenario
• Calculate the profitability of each scenario and the overall cost per lighting point

The approach was based on analysing existing data and assessing the installed asset base. This work produced several “all-LED” modernisation scenarios phased over five or ten years.

Each scenario was subjected to comparative analysis based on annual costs and revenues. Calculating profitability and unit cost per lighting point made it possible to identify the economically optimal scenario.
